Char Dham is referred to the four Hindu religious sites in Uttarakhand state of India. These are Yamunotri, Gangotri, Badrinath and Kedarnath. Nestled in the lap of majestic Himalayas, these four sites are the epicenter of religious activity in north India. Traditionally, the Chardham yatra is undertaken from the west to the east. Thus, the yatra starts from Yamunotri, then proceeding to Gangotri and finally to Kedarnath and Badrinath.

We visited these temples in October. So it was less crowded as they are in the Yatra seasons (May - June). It was a great time to offer puja in these temples. The climate was also very nice just as in hills. The most adventurous part of our journey was a night stay at DHARASU BEND while travelling from Yamunatri to Gourikund.
We stayed at a roadside motel and we were the only boarders there. After 7 p.m. we discovered that the manager of the motel disappeared. From the roadside shops and eating housed we came to know that it was not a regular night stay place and the manager leaves at night. The shops were also closed at 7:30 p.m. The place was deserted. We really felt insecured as we were carrying heavy cash and expensive cameras. Somehow we spent that night and next morning took a bus for Chamba. Further we moved to Gourikund. Ultimately, we completed our trip safely.
